I was visiting my grandma in Georgia last week and brought the laptop with me to work on
Merdoc. It was a quiet weekday and I set myself up for some coloring in the living room. Grandma came in with her cup of tea and peered over my shoulder. She asked me how things were going with the comic, and I replied that things were going slowly, but I was going to use my vacation to catch up on some things.
"You gals need to hurry on up and get to workin' so you can make us some money."
"I don't think we'll make all
that much, Grandma," I chuckled.
"Oh, it don't have to be much. Even just enough to pay for a dinner would be fine," she said with a smile.
I smiled at that too, and then, AND THEN...
"I would at least like a free can of soda before I die," she teased as she gently stroked my hair.
Oh. My. God.
My grandma had just reprimanded me. Teasingly, jokingly, but most definitely a reprimand. And thinking of how long it's been since the comic idea was first born and how much I have, on my own end, to show, I completely deserved it.
I gotta earn my grandma a can of Sprite.
And so, I finally,
finally finished the
color scheme for Merdoc and converted the colors to digital format. It's been a long, grueling wait for the poor boy, but at least he fared better than poor
Dellis. I haven't forgotten about you, Dellis, I promise! You're on the queue.
Kest is up next. Or, at least his headshot is.
